Watch Winds Down was my first and third band (we broke up and got back together after I was in Tumwater). I was 14 when we started, and I think around 16 when we got back together. I'm actually pretty proud or our music, especially the second incarnation. We were a damn good band considering that we were three kids from the woods. Rafter Roberts played guitar and sang. Rafter is now a renowned recording engineer/producer and co-owner of Singing Serpent studio in San Diego. He also plays in a band called Bunky, which I highly recommend. Ryan Jones played drums. Ryan is, in addition to being my older brother, the drummer of Two Guys. He was already a great drummer back then, even in his flaky stoner days. I played bass (my first instrument) and sang a little, mostly backup. We recorded three (?) albums, all in Rafter's bedroom. I can't remember for sure if we did one or two during the first incarnation, but I know there was only one during the second. The last one we recorded, which we called "Rocket Farms", is something that I can listen to today and be very proud of. The seedlings of Rafter's recording talent had already started to sprout too, as we recorded it on a reel-to-reel 4 track and it sounds really fucking good I think. Unfortunately, no recordings of this band are available. I might put Rocket Farms up in mp3 format somewhere if I can though. |
