The third reich 'n' roll of my musical stepladder begins in Portland, Oregon, in the year 2001 with Two Guys. We were actually called "The2Guys" at first, but our record label convinced us to shorten it. Damn music biz. Two Guys was my first chance to write songs and play them live. I know that sounds kind of strange, having played music since '93, but I started as a bass player, so that's my excuse. I wanted to start a band with my bro again, since we were moving to Portland together, and I had just gotten this nifty baritone guitar on sale at Guitar Center, so I said to myself, "hey, I can play that and I won't even need a bass player. Cool!" We released our first cd, "Recorded", in March of 2003. There's lots of info on our web site, so I won't go into too much detail here. Two Guys never really broke up but I wouldn't say we're a band right now either. Maybe we'll get inspired sometime in the future and start working on stuff again, who knows. Either way, it is/was great fun, and it forced me to become a better songwriter and a better singer. Hopefully I'm still improving. |
