Tumwater was also a trio, also with Rafter, but the instrumentation was a bit different.

After Watch Winds Down broke up (I think because Ryan wasn't into it any more), we all took a little break, but I eventually started playing with Rafter again. He had a friend named Drea Moore, who he had been in a band called Wackass Bitch with. She was a singer and Rafter had started learning how to play the drums, so we started a band where I played bass, Rafter played drums and various effects, and Drea sang.

We had lots of fun being goofy and played a bunch of shows, plus it gave me a chance to develope my songwriting a bit further and learn how to put chords together and be the main focus of the song. Tumwater also gave me my first experience with touring. We made two trips down the coast, although they were more just trips to play a few shows in San Diego than actual tours. This was my first contact with the San Diego crew, people like Rob Crow, Jason Soares, Pall Jenkins, etc.

But ultimately the instrumentation wasn't doing it for me, I really just wanted to be a bass player. So we broke up after a year or so.

We did get a chance to record one album, in Rafter's bedroom of course, and we called it "Tumwater and the 57 treasures of nostril pond". Pretty good name, eh? The way we chose it was to pick a number somehow and then each pick our favorite word. Mine was nostril.
