Cameron Jones (me) is a musician who has been or still is involved with the following projects (in chronological order): You probably haven't heard of at least a few of these bands unless you're one of my parents. That's because this list is comprehensive, meaning it includes even my first band when I was 14. Click on each name for more info and maybe a link if you're lucky. BUT... while the music I help(ed) create with those bands is all fine and good, the focus of this site is my solo recordings. Therefore, you won't hear
much else about any of the more collaborative-natured stuff I've done or am doing here. Understood? Good. Let's get on with it then. |

I quit Pinback after this last tour, which means I now have twice as much time and energy to put into my own stuff. It'll be nice to be home for longer than a few months. I'm working on a song for an album of collaborations that Mitch Cheney (Rumah Sakit, Sick Room Records) is doing, should be fun.

I've been putting off posting this because I'm tired of repeatedly going back and forth in my posts about what's going on with my cd. You can probably see that I'm not yet selling it on this website, which means it's still not done. I'm simply strapped for cash and have been for that past few months. It's hard to say when I'll have the money to get it done, I'll have to play it by ear.

Yes, it's the end of the year and neither a record label nor I have gotten too far on releasing my album. It's pretty clear that if it's going to get done, I'm going to have to do it on my own; so with that in mind, I'll probably be using some of the money I just made on Pinback tour to get "Wallpaper" out on the streets. Everything's pretty much done, just gotta print 'em up, so check back soon if you're interested.

Maybe I spoke a little too soon. Some interest has been expressed by a couple labels since I wrote the last update, so I decided to give it a little more time and send out a few more cd's before I go completely DIY. I'm going to Europe with Pinback in a couple weeks and will reevaluate the situation when I get back.

After much deliberating (and quite a few failed attempts at convincing various record labels to do it), I've decided to self-release my album. Fuck the man, I don't need him! I'm working on the artwork right now and will be selling copies on this very website when it's all done, which will hopefully be by the end of the year. When that time comes, I'll put up clips of all or most of the songs so y'all can check it out before buying.

Well well, this is a strange announcement. I'm going on tour with Pinback again in April as their drummer. I thought my San Diego musician-for-hire days were well behind me at this point, but I guess I should never say never. We've been talking about it for a week or so and after some deliberation both parties have decided to go for it. The good news (aside from the fact that I'll be making money from playing music for once) is that I'll be selling my own merch at the shows. I'll have Two Guys cd's and probably a "sampler" of sorts for my other 2,000 projects. So I'll be able to bring the music to the people in a way that I'd never have been able to on my own. For more info on the tour, see Pinback's web site or their yahoo group.

Hooray! I'm basically done with recording my album, save for a finishing touch here and there. Needless to say, I'm excited to have a mostly finished product. I've posted one more song in the music section, but that's all you get! Gotta wait for the release to hear the rest I suppose, whenever that might be. I've also posted a Modus the Whale song in the music section. It's the first song we've finished, so any feedback anyone has would be welcome. Thanks for listening!

So there's a story that goes along with this mp3 I'm about to post. I had about four new songs done, more than halfway to a full album's worth of material. But like a dumbass, I only had one and a half of them backed up, so when my computer crashed I lost a bunch of stuff. The half-song I had was probably my favorite of my new songs so I couldn't deal with just letting it go. The mp3 I'm posting today, called Space, is a recreation. It was a pain in the ass to try to get it to sound as good as the first one, but I think in the end it actually sounds better in some spots. So anyway, go to the music section and check it out.

Geez, it's been quite a while since I did anything with this site. Well it's back and redesigned. I figured, since I'm avidly recording for a solo release, I should probably dust off the old Cameron site and start updating it, maybe post a couple new songs so people can hear what I've been up to. I'm really excited about my new songs, I think they work much better than most of the stuff I did in San Diego. Check out the music section to hear a smamply-smample (sample).

I've finally gotten off my ass and started recording again. I had forgotten what good therapy it is. Since I now have Two Guys to write rock stuff for, the music I've started doing by myself has taken a turn toward the experimental, which means probably even less people will want to listen to it, but it's a good release for me. Hopefully I'll be posting one or two new mp3's here soon.

I haven't done any solo stuff at all for quite a while. Partly because I moved and I no longer have all my music stuff set up in my room, and partly because I've been working on writing for The2Guys. I do hope to get back into doing that stuff eventually, but for now, all of my focus is on the new band, which I'm really excited about. Got our web site all built too.

I've put together an EP of my solo music that I've been selling while on tour. There's seven songs - about 25 minutes of music. The going rate is $5. If anyone would like one and doesn't think they'll be able to catch us on tour, email me and I'd be glad to send you one for $5 + shipping.

I also do solo stuff. I put out one tape in '97, but it was the kind of thing where I just made copies myself and mostly gave them to people I knew. I think I sold one at a Physics show once. That's where the music section comes in. Since nobody wants to release that stuff, the best way for me to get people to hear it is through this web site.
